Meet Mary Wilson & Sarah Medeiros (Manager)

In a town the size of Kitimat, says professional chef Mary Wilson, everyone is a neighbour and a friend. "Everyone is looking out for your best interests and supporting you," she notes. Because it's a close-knit, friendly community, word travels fast. That means that when you provide stellar service and an excellent product, people will talk about it. "Word of mouth is huge in a small town which is key to a small business," Mary says.

Mary grew up in Kitimat. It is her home, and it is where she is raising her own family. She feels honoured to be able to give back to the community that raised her, and she is humbled by the many people who have supported her in her business endeavour since she first began in 2013. "Kitimat has continued to hire me over and over giving me the opportunity to learn and grow as a chef," Mary says. "I am forever grateful to them." Mary's cooking also has something of an international reputation, since she also cooks for guests at the Minette Bay Lodge.

Mary is passionate about food in every way imaginable: cooking it, serving it, and helping people to learn to appreciate it in new and different ways. "I want people to believe in food again," Mary declares. "We are so busy in life theses days that it seems we only eat when we have time and because we have to eat to survive. I want to serve a meal to someone and make them want to leave and try creating the same meal at home. I want food to be bring people together and make them happy. I want people to be excited about eating again."
